Reflection

Film Reflection Overall I think this film turned out pretty good, I believe that I could've made a better film, mainly because my original idea was to create a horror film but something happened so I was unable to create such film, but I still had a lot of fun creating this one and I think many will relate to this film. I think I could've improved overall I'm glad I have some experience now and I will make sure if I ever do something like this again to make it better and be more well equipped because this film had me scrambling for ideas honestly and I 100% think I could've done better overall.

Rough Draft

Rough Draft This is my rough draft for my film "I'll Do it Tomorrow." This rough draft was the original idea, of the film, but I felt this one was too tense, the character was motivated at the start and I wanted it to be more like the main character has nearly no intention of actually doing his work considering this film is about procrastination, Nonetheless, I think this rough draft had the right idea of what I was going for. Here it is: Rough Draft AICE Media Studies Film

Representation

Image
Representation Analysis: Slice-Of-Life Cinema What Slice-Of-Life Aims to Represent Slice-Of-Life Films represent ordinary everyday human experiences like daily routines, bad habits, relationships and social environments. The focus of this type of genre is more reliant on authenticity, observation and emotional truth meaning that representation in these genre isn't about what happens  rather it is how lived experience is framed.   Good Representation In A Slice-Of-Life Film 1. Characters are normal, not symbolic 2. Characters are allowed to be boring, contradictory, kind, shy, or funny 3. No one pauses to explain traditions or habits to the camera 4. Language, Food, routines just exist 5. Real life doesn't stop to contextualize itself Examples: "Lady Bird" (2017) "Columbus" (2017)

Casting/Casting Feedback

Casting Feedback First of all, a thanks to my mother for helping me film this, at first she was too busy and working all day so she couldn't really help me and I still tried to record it regardless of that, but having someone else being able to record certain angles definitely saved me some time, as it was harder to make certain scenes by myself because they simply didn't look right. I was the one that took up every other role except cameraman, as my mother was my cameraman and we had a lot of fun making the film, especially because there was plenty of funny moments that I saved.

Color/Lighting

Color/Lighting in my film In this scene I enter my room which is dark before I enter the room and turn the lights on but I am coming from a brighter room because it is supposed to display that it is day time. In this scene I'm inside the room and I have turned the lights on and as you can see its bright and you can see everything now. The last scene where I'm outside shows that it is daytime showing the brighter lighting once I open the door

Narrative Structure

Narrative Structure Narrative Structure is the way a story is arranged and displayed to the audience. It lays down the foundation of the story and how it unfolds, and how the audience will receive this unraveling and how it creates meaning and emotional impact. Narrative Structure In Slice-Of-Life Films typically downplay plot and highlight the living experience straying away from "What Happens Next?" the question rather is "What does it feel like to be here, in this moment?" which changes the narrative structure for this type of film

What are Title Sequences? Title sequences is the audiences first point of contact with the films visual language. Apart from informing you of the name of the film and the credits and whatnot, title sequences are also mean to establish tone, genre and narrative expectation. Title Sequences in films vary depending on the genre of the film because many films use it for its Narrative function of introducing themes, characters or plot elements and often include music that relates to the genre of the film, giving the audience a glimpse of what the film might be about. Setting and Location of my film and why it fits the story

Image
Setting and Location of my film and why it fits the story This is the location of my film, My own home. Now I picked this film because what better place is there for me to film a procrastination film then my own home, Now I picked this because obviously I needed to use my computer that you can see in the screenshot for the film, and honestly at first I wanted to film using just paper and pencil and a folder to show that I had an assignment due but the computer ended up being a better option for the story as it gave me more options for procrastination.

Character Stereotypes

Image
Character Stereotypes For My Genre "an Idiot." Homer Simpson is one of the BEST representations of procrastination. Homer, is the epitome of laziness, as we see his constant refusal to handle waste properly causing several problems upon doing so. In "The Simpsons" movie in 2007 Homer's procrastination is the central plot of the movie because the entire conflict and its resolution hinges on Homer's repeated bat habit of avoiding responsibility until consequences become unavoidable. "The Slacker" The main character "The Dude" From the film The Big Lebowksi is a perfect representation of the Ultimate Slacker, this character embodies passive procrastination, simply letting life happen to him and avoiding everything that requires any sort of effort or confrontation, a character like this has absolutely ZERO commitment which is what makes them perfect. "Immature & Unfinished" Frances Halladay from the 2012 film "Frances Ha...

Research: Genre

Image
Research: Genre Slice of Life, Coming of Age, Drama, Comedy The genre of this film is a depiction of mundane experiences, with "Slice of Life" referring to naturalistic representation of real life which is a narrative technique used to present a sample of a characters life and it gives the audience and idea as to how this character carries himself/herself and it is used in many films when portraying a young main character as it is a stereotype that many adults induce into teenagers. Films like this may present a story with little plot progress and usually doesn't have much exposition or conflict, leaving a more open-ending. this sort of work inspired my idea to create a film that focuses on the reality of a High School Student who procrastinates and the consequences of delaying important things. "Wake Up Sid" (2009)  this film follows Siddharth "Sid" Mehra, a wealthy, carefree college student in Mumbai who lives off his parents' money and avoids re...
